Kepler-1649c is just 1.06 times the size of Earth and gets 75% of the stellar energy influx that our planet gets from the sun. NASA described it as the "most similar to Earth in size and estimated temperature" out of the thousands of exoplanets discovered by Kepler. Using NASA's Kepler Space Telescope, astronomers have discovered the first Earth-size planet orbiting a star in the "habitable zone" -- the range of distance from a star where liquid water might pool on the surface of an orbiting planet. Kepler Finds 1st Earth-Size Planet In … Kepler-1649c is located 300 light-years from Earth. The planet's host star belongs to the same class as our sun, called G-type, although it is slightly smaller and cooler.
Kepler-22b is located 600 light-years away. While they might be habitable, they would not be very Earth-like. While the planet is larger than Earth, its orbit of 290 days around a sun-like star resembles that of our world. Unfortunately, these worlds are somewhat larger than the Earth, are slow or synchronous rotators and orbit dim M and K type stars, respectively.
